I am transethnic. I don’t relate to a population subgroup with a common national or cultural tradition in an identifiable way that corresponds to the way I feel about my culture. I would say that I am a white heterosexual male veteran who cares deeply about the culture that I was born into. Yet I dare say that a majority of the references to such an “ethnicity” in the Zeitgeist of today would be disparagingly negative. Perhaps I am a Prussian because I love Kant, or perhaps I am Greek because I love Aristotle. Maybe I am a Jew because I love Strauss. I would say that I love Peirce, and I do, however his philosophy is being conformed to a continental pattern that seems non Peircian. Perhaps we are transacademic.

On Trans Identity
